When the new Boston Public Market opens later this month, the public will have access to the tantalizing wares of farmers, fishmongers, and food producers from throughout New England!
“The Market will be the first of its kind in offering a year-round source of fresh, local food, and an opportunity to taste, buy, engage, and understand what our region has to offer.”, explained Mackenzie Sehlke- Assistant Market Manager, to FoodPlay Productions.
Almost 40 diverse vendors will be selling fresh produce, meats and regionally produced food products, bridging the gap between urban and rural environments. “Now, those living in New England can spend their money in New England.” says Sehlke.
The Market benefits both the purveyors, as it provides them with a new and perhaps, broader, retail opportunity, as well as the community, due to its accessible location in the city. Vendors will have various price points and SNAP benefits are offered for all eligible products.
The Market is also hoping to bring in local students to learn about fresh and local food. Some programs will have a small fee, and some will be free of charge. The Market is located at 100 Hanover Street at Haymarket Station and will be open starting July 30 from Wednesday – Sunday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
