Rory McPherson, a middle school student in Kittery, Maine, has been chosen as an Ambassador to the 2015 Fuel up to Play 60 Summit!
Fuel Up to Play 60 is a national program promoting exercise and healthy eating. It is co-sponsored by the National Dairy Council and the National Football League. Schools track their activity to earn points and prizes.
FoodPlay Productions was especially excited to talk to Rory, since we are bringing our assembly program to elementary school students in Kittery this fall.
FoodPlay Productions (FPP): How old are you, and what grade are you in?
Rory McPherson (RM): I am 13, and going into 8th grade at Shapleigh Middle School.
FPP: How did you apply to be an ambassador?
RM: I saw online that our school was eligible for a student ambassador, and applied.
FPP: When and where is the Summit?
RM: I will be in Chicago July 22 – 25, and I am staying at the University of Illinois.
FPP: Why were you interested in attending the Summit?
RM: I am hoping to learn leadership skills and to bring back information about healthy eating to the other students at Shapleigh.
FPP: What else do you hope to bring back to your community?
RM: I’d also like to learn new healthy recipes for student athletes.
We wish Rory well, and look forward to hearing her report back after the Summit!
