Albert Lea Hy-Vee changed their checkout lane instead of soda, candy and chocolate to healthy snacks, such as granola bars, carrots, string cheese, flavored water and dried fruit. Since The Blue Zones lane opened, sale of the food in the healthy lane has went up by 42%, with increased sales of soy nuts, raw no-salt sunflower seeds, dried peaches and prunes. Parents also send their kids to these lanes to pick out a healthy snack on the way out. This is the way a grocery store checkout lanes should look like!
