Hi. We’re excited to announce the launch of our new website: www.foodplay.com – check it out – lots of free materials and new resources to make good eating great fun!
And, we’ve just set out our National FOODPLAY Tour which will visit schools and community events from New York to California! Hope you’ll join the tour!
While our programs are filled with fun and excitement, we all know, the messages are very serious and urgent. Now is the time! We look forward to working with you!
This year’s show is NEW and IMPROVED!
Introducing MyPlate with amazing feats of juggling and “spinning MyPlates!” – we get kids, teachers, and parents excited about balancing their diets with GO foods from all five food groups. We put the spotlight on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and dairy foods, with a special emphasis on fruits and veggies-grown locally and in season!
What’s especially fun for me this year, is teaching children about making their own healthy snacks – with our new SUPER STAR SNACK-ATTACK game show! The whole audience gets involved creating healthy GO snacks like “rainbow fruit sticks” and “orange fizz” natural soda instead of highly processed, packaged WHOA products.
This year’s program also emphasizes the importance of breakfast, making it “cool to eat at school!” Kids learn how to see through media messages and how to “read it before you eat it” to select the healthiest choices. And, our upbeat physical activity scene demonstrates how to have fun being active every day, inside or out, alone or in groups, with equipment, or with nothing special.
We love watching how the power of live theater not only educates but motivates kids (and grown-ups!) to “treat their bodies right!”
After the Show:
- Kids take home fun snack cards to post on their fridge, and game show contestants receive our new Fruit and Veggie Tracker Bands – a fun way for kids to keep track of their fruit and veggie intake throughout the day.
* - To continue the nutrition and health lessons all year long, we’ve added a new MyPlate Activity Kit. This, along with our comprehensive School Resource Kit, provides dozens of hands-on, standards-based activities to help teachers, parents, food service and health staff integrate nutrition into core subject areas and create fun nutrition education throughout the year in class, cafeteria, and at home.
* - New for Parents – We’re sending schools a free subscription to Seasonal Gr’Eatings – our quarterly nutrition newsletter to give out to parents to help raise healthy eaters throughout each season!
